Psychopomps or “guides of souls” are those entities which escort the nearly or newly dead to an afterlife realm.
These intermediaries can be supernatural beings, mythic creatures, deities, and many other figures or forces of the fictional universe, as well as angels or other beings you may feel are quite real.
Send us your stories of anything from Grim Reapers to benevolent deceased grandparents because this anthology will have it all. We love stories that are thought-provocative and daring, but we do not want stories featuring gratuitous violence or sex, copious swearing, or tasteless horror.
Just because we’ve featured this cryptic pram and crow on the cover does not mean your story has to include those as themes or characters. Draw from world myth or create a new paradigm. We are interested in unique and eclectic tales that explore traditional themes of safe passage or new ideas about the roles psychopomps play in shepherding souls.
Your story can escort us to heaven, hell, and beyond. Your characters and themes can span paranormal, science fiction, fantasy, horror, and spiritual. For more ideas, check out this overview: Psychopomps from Around the World.
We look forward to reading and evaluating your submission!
